It is just as safe and effective as water bath canners when properly used to preserve acidified or naturally acidic foods. The cool-touch handles help you to avoid burns when canning.
Compared to traditional water bath canning, the Kitchen Crop Stainless Steel Steam Canner uses 80% less water and has much quicker heat-up times, cutting preheating time by 50%. Its lightweight design with lower water capacity requirements make it the fastest canning method. The built-in temperature indicator within the lid's knob makes timing easier, as you can simply start timing your canning job when the needle reaches the appropriate maximum temperature mark.
The canner has a large canning capacity, allowing you to process up to 7 quart or 8 pint jars of high-acid foods at one time, yet you only need 2-1/2 quarts of water to accomplish this. It is important to note that the canner will not accommodate half-gallon jars.
